Welcome to Light Academy

A private school with a rare offering

We are a private school in Kenya with two branches across the cities of Nairobi and Mombasa. Our 25 years of service have seen us reach so many academic heights and success.

Our teachers and students are equipped with advanced computer and ICT skills that come in handy in meeting the learning needs of the 21st century. At LA we go beyond producing academically competent students – which is part of our culture – and also bring up socially responsible and culturally sensitive individuals who are truly global citizens.

Our education model

A modern school

As each day passes, the world is being taken over by technology – so we build it into our students’ education.

We have adopted learning management systems such as Coolsis, Google Suite for Education and Zoom. They complement physical classes: teachers assign homework and tests and create fun quizzes, and parents can follow their children’s academic grades and discipline reports.

When the COVID-19 pandemic kept students around the world away from school, ours were not disadvantaged – it was easy for us to move to a fully online model. All our staff are technology savvy, and every student leaves us computer literate.

Access to Success

Academic excellence

Our motto is access to success, and our performance in the recent national exams speaks for itself.

In the 2022 KCSE exams the school achieved a mean score of 9.16, with two of our students among the top ten nationwide: Ramadhan Musa Tepo was 5th in the country and his classmate Daniel Mshindi Ouma 7th. In the 2020 KCSE exams, Light Academy Mombasa was the 5th best school, the 1st private school and the most improved school nationally.

On Teachers’ Day in October 2022, Light Academy was once again awarded the best private school in Kenya by the TSC, and the Ministry of Education recognised our Mombasa teachers for exemplary performance in 11 KCSE subjects.
